Program Description

Department of Banking and Finance offers finance related issues and their applications considering the standards of international banking and finance. Banks are one of the most important financial institutions in the free market economies. The increasing investments to the banking industry and the increasing growth of this sector led the demand to the Banking and Finance Departments to increase. The aim of the department is to grow up experts in the field of banking and finance.

The lectures in the department covers the subjects such as the instruments of the financial analysis, financial planning, auditing, calculation of interest, decision of investment, management of working capital and capital markets. With the curriculum, it is also aimed the students to have knowledge on the financial markets and institutions.

The lectures in our department not only covers the general subjects of banking and finance but also it contains lectures on econometrics, statistics and computer. The Department of Banking and Finance offers B.S., M.S. (with or without thesis) and Ph.D. programs in banking and finance. The teaching language is in English and the education covers 8 periods. In the structure of the Department of Banking and Finance, the faculty combines different components such as;

  • In the Banking component, the students will study theory and practices in the banking sector in a global context,
  • In the Finance component, the students will focus on theory, practices in the area of finance as a whole.
  • The program is in English which will contribute the students to develop their competence in English.

Aims & Objectives

The department aims to produce graduates who are well-qualified in every area of financial sector, including banks and in government and private sector as an expert, manager, and instructor or as an academician at the universities.

Program Structure

Banking and Finance students are required to complete 240 credits. The elective courses can be selected either from the department of banking and finance or other departments and faculties, but at least 15 credits (3 courses) should be taken from the Department of Banking and Finance.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from the Banking and Finance department are well-qualified in every area of financial sector, including banks, insurance companies and they can work both in government and private sector as an expert, manager, and instructor or as an academician at the universities.
